Maison du Saule, with its secluded garden
and large pool alongside a huge hanging
willow has the feel of a country place despite
the fact it is barely a two minute walk to the
center of Paradou, a small traditional village
and just 10 minutes from Les Baux de
Provence.
On entering the house from the street where
nothing is revealed of what lies beyond, it is
only when you step inside the "country"
aspect is declared; the willow and shady
broad leafed persimmon beside the pool, a
stunning garden and fragrant lavender
combine to create a delightful ambience.
Maison du Saule is on two levels. On the
ground floor the entry hall, a large living
room with a large, stone fireplace, and the
kitchen, which has a full array of good
quality appliances. A wide passageway leads
from the living room to a small library with
bookshelves. On the other side of the entry
is a separate dining room that opens onto a
lovely terrace shaded by a trellis with vines.
The house decoration reflects Provence.
The light, the antiquity of the property, yet
with the informality and family comfort, so
appropriate for unwinding and relaxing
while on vacation. The beautifully equipped
kitchen, pretty tiled bathrooms, large, firm
beds, tasteful décor drawing on traditional
Provencal motifs, and a garden that, with its
oversized pool, is like a little corner of
paradise - these are the qualities that imbue
Maison du Saule with its special character
and charm. There are a number of splendid
little bistros and Michelin rated
establishments in the immediate area which
are unequalled anywhere in Provence.
Within strolling distance of Maison du Saule
are two of the Alpilles' most popular
restaurants - Le Bistro du Paradou just at
the end of the village, and a few steps
further the one star Le Petite France.
