AIX-EN-PROVENCE

Situated on a softly rolling hillside, just 3 kms. from the center of Aix-en-Provence, this beautiful bastide, typical of the local traditional architecture, dominates the surrounding countryside of fields and woodland. Although situated away from the road, it is conveniently placed for accessing Aix, or Venelles, 2.5 kms. away, which has supermarkets and a shopping center. The villa has recently been totally renovated throughout to a very high standard and offers a very elegant, spacious and welcoming vacation home.

Entry to the property is by electric, remote controlled gates, up a driveway to the main entrance. Surrounded by cypress trees, the property is within a large, enclosed terraced garden of approx. five acres. Directly outside of the house is a gravel terrace with seating and a dining area under a wrought iron pergola. A further outdoor dining area is situated in an alcove between the house and the adjacent orangerie, which is used a game room for table tennis and bar football. The second dining area, furnished with a teak table and chairs, is perfect for use on windy days, as it is protected from the Mistral by a beautiful glass door with elaborate iron work, close to the entrance of the house. A portable gas BBQ is available for use by guests. From the front main terraced area, steps lead down to the garden, a huge stretch of lawn, with trees, and a 16 x 49 ft. swimming pool with step access and an alarm.

The rooms are tastefully decorated and furnished throughout in lovely, neutral Provencal colors and beautiful furnishings. Many lovely old features, including fireplaces and antique slatted wooden doors, have been incorporated into the interior design. Most of the bedrooms have modern, very attractive Tadelakt bathrooms. The master bedroom, in particular, is a lovely room with romantic decoration in tones of pastel blue, stucco finished walls and French style period decoration on the ceiling. The effect throughout the house is one of soothing, harmonius colors, combined with every modern comfort.

Maid service: 3 – 4 hours a day paid locally at €13 per hour
