Situated in a fantastic location between Super
Cannes and Vallauris, famous for Picasso
potteries, and close to his one time home,
coastal Golfe Juan, Villa Florence is within
easy reach of Cannes and this lovely house
has been extensively refurbished in a
Minimalist style.
As you approach Villa Florence through
electric gates and up the private drive lined
with lavender, you know that you have
arrived some place rather special, at a house
befitting its excellent location. Surrounded
by over 30,000 sq. ft. of terraced garden, the
white façade of the house contrasts
beautifully to its verdant surroundings. On
entry, the exclusive ambiance continues with
the double height plate glass entry hall,
sweeping staircase and gallery boasting
extensive views towards the Bay of Antibes.
Other features include master bedrooms with
Philippe Stark style en-suite baths, and a
"double" reception room with two large
French doors leading onto the terrace looking
out onto the swimming pool. The village of
Vellauris, set in a wonderful amphitheatre of
hills, is known throughout the world for its
ceramics, with potters having been thee since
Roman times. Picasso went there in the fifties
to try his hand at the art and produced more
than 2000 pieces in his times there, and many
of these can be seen in the town's museum.
During his time, Picasso lived in Golfe Juan,
about 20 kms. away. The seaside town is
home to excellent and un-crowded beaches
with views of Cap d'Antibes. There are a
number of restaurants in Golfe Juan, with
Nounou and Tetou, two of the most well
known in France.
